Common questions

How many working days does 2025 have in Portugal?

251261 Mon–Fri weekdays minus 10 national holidays that land on a weekday. Regional and local holidays sit outside the national set and would lower the number further where they apply.

How many working days is that per month, on average?

About 20.9 per month — but the spread matters more than the average: 65 working days in Q3 against 60 in Q2. A plan that assumes a flat month overcommits exactly where the calendar is thinnest.

Does this include vacation or booked time off?

No — this is the ceiling the calendar sets before anyone books leave. A team’s real capacity subtracts each person’s time off and part-time arrangement from these days; that is what the capacity calculator computes for a whole team, per member country.

Rule source: Código do Trabalho art. 234, rules last verified 2026-08-03. Mandatory national holidays only. Municipal holidays (Lisbon 13 June, Porto 24 June) and the Azores and Madeira regional days are excluded, and Carnival Tuesday is granted by annual government decision rather than statute so it is not counted, though most workplaces close. Easter Sunday is omitted; it never falls on a working day. Portugal has no weekend substitution.

Now subtract your actual team

251 days is the calendar’s ceiling for one person in Portugal. A real team spans countries, books leave, and works part-time — the calculator does that arithmetic for your headcount in seconds, no account.
